Microwaving Corn on the Cob (Still in Husks)

A quick and easy way to cook and shuck sweet corn is to put the whole unshucked ear of corn in the microwave and cook it for about 5 minutes or so, based on the power of your microwave.

Cut the bottom of the ear of corn off before you cook it to make it easier to shuck.

After about five minutes in the microwave, the husks will wilt, and the corn will be cooked. The husks peel right off with little effort, as do the silks. (Be careful, it is very hot!)

Butter it up and enjoy!

Can you tell that I am a bachelor?

That's the best way to cook corn. No hot pots of water steaming up an already steamy house!

Yes, I have tried it and is good. My favorite method is to roast over open fire with husk on, takes longer but is the best IMO.

I've heard of this but never tried it. Now that I've heard from some people I know, that it does work well, I'll have to give it a try.

Of course this late in the season trying to find fresh sweet corn is the trick. Our neighbor down the road, ran out of corn at his little veggie stand awhile ago.

Gave it a try last night Jeff. Worked great!

I saw this video and tried it for sliding out of the husk. Perfect!

Deb and I have been doing this ever since we first tried it. We still end up laughing at how they come out, and how simple it is.

The corn flavor is awesome! None of it lost to boiling water or steam.
It's so good I even like it without butter on it. Pure corn. Mmmmm.

Bumping this thread.
Who wants to grill corn, or stand over a hot boiling pot of water in this heat?
Fresh sweetcorn is now available at many farm markets in Southern Michigan.
