A picture diary of the 2007 deer season

I started my 2007 firearm deer season with this view. Between 6:45am and 11:30am I saw 17 deer, with 7 being bucks. Out of those 7, 4 were "legal". You will notice the deer blind in the background. We don't hunt that close together, we just have alternate stands to deal with different wind patterns.

At 9:45am I had a really nice rack come chasing three does behind me but I couldn't get a shot. The does winded me, and turned back just before he took the 4-5 more trots he needed to step into the open. Here is a doe that was right in front of me...

At 11:30 the wind started to switch, so I got up and walked to a different part of the property and sat down in another stand at 11:50am. Here is what I got to stare at for the next five hours...

Absolutely, NOTHING! But, at 5:05pm a doe came running at me from my right. I grabbed the rifle and put it to my shoulder. I could tell she was being pushed, and sure enough here he came. Head down just a trotting behind that doe. He started to swing in front of me, and when he got completely broad side, I squeezed off a round. Beautiful six point. I didn't get pictures that night because I was more concerned with getting him field dressed before it got dark! Here is a picture of him the next day...

This buck had a very distinct mane. It's only the second buck I've shot with such a obvious one...

I saw this guy a couple times. My Grandfather nicknamed him, "Fifty Cent". I was a little confused as to why so I asked...His response..."He's only half a buck!"

I took mostly pictures of does. I got some great video of bucks, but they are not digital. VHS-C format. I designate one night at camp as picture and video night. Everyone loves the fact that I do all the pictures and video. It's always one of the highlights to the week. Here is a doe preening a fawn..

Here is another. She cleaned the fawn for about five minutes. I did take some low quality video on my digital camera that I will get posted to my Photo Bucket. I just need to edit down a little so it can be uploaded.
